Protiomix Receives Funding from IUK Transformative Technologies to Drive Decarbonisation in Animal Feed Production

Protiomix Ltd, a pioneering industrial biotechnology start-up, announces the receipt of funding from IUK Transformative Technologies to accelerate its mission of net-zero carbon animal feed production while simultaneously decarbonising the food and beverage sectors. The funding will support Protiomix’s innovative process cycle to transforming co-product streams into sustainable, net-zero/net-negative carbon animal feed and pet food while actively sequestering CO2. By utilising its proprietary, GMO-free, engineered consortia and innovative process cycle, Protiomix utilises co-products from the brewing and farming sectors, such as dairies, greenhouses, vertical farms, breweries, and distilleries, as feedstock , effectively valorising them. Compared to conventional feed production, Protiomix’s process utilises >95% less water, >90% less landm and captures CO2 as part of its production. This ensures net-negative carbon emissions when direct and indirect emissions are accounted. Protiomix’s ground-breaking approach adds highly-skilled local jobs, helps local economy and people by addressing environmental concerns and has the potential to provide animal feed at a lower lifetime cost to conventional feed, simultaneously with carbon capture.
